1. Why is Immanuel Church making these changes?

Our goal is to help ensure that Immanuel Church continues to be a warm, welcoming, and safe place for everyone. Expanding our Hospitality Team and creating a Security/Emergency Team allows us to respond quickly to medical, weather-related, or security situations if they arise.

2. Who are the people with the radios in the hallways?

These individuals are members of our Sunday morning Security/Emergency Team. Their role is simply to help coordinate responses to any medical, weather, or safety concerns and to provide peace of mind for our congregation.

3. Is there a specific safety concern at the church?

No. These steps are being taken proactively to ensure we are prepared to care for our congregation in any situation. Many churches are adopting similar practices to help maintain a safe environment.

4. Why are some entrances being locked on Sunday mornings?

At the recommendation of the Lakeside Park Police Department, we are limiting the number of entrances open during worship hours. This helps us maintain awareness of who is entering the building while still providing welcoming access points for everyone.

5. Which entrances will be closed?

Beginning Sunday, March 15, the doors on Arcadia Street and at Wesley Hall will be locked during Sunday morning worship hours.

6. Which entrances should I use on Sunday mornings?

We encourage most people to enter through the Welcome Center, where our Hospitality Team will be ready to greet you.

The Sanctuary Narthex entrance (near Dixie Highway at the rear of the Sanctuary) will also remain open and staffed by a greeter or usher.

7. What if I normally use the Wesley Hall entrance?

We understand that this entrance has been convenient, especially for quick drop-offs and those with limited mobility. A member of the Safety Team will be stationed there to assist anyone who needs access.

8. Can I still drop someone off on Arcadia Street?

For everyone’s safety, we kindly ask that vehicles not stop on Arcadia Street to drop off passengers.

9. Can I still exit through the locked doors?

Yes. The doors have push bars and are still available for exiting the building. They will lock behind you as you exit the building.

10. Are you looking for volunteers for the Security Team?

Yes. We are currently inviting additional volunteers to serve on the Sunday morning Security Team. This ministry helps provide care, awareness, and support for the congregation.

11. How can I get involved or learn more?

12. Will these changes affect the welcoming atmosphere of the church?

Not at all. Our goal is to strengthen both safety and hospitality so that every person who comes to Immanuel Church feels cared for, welcomed, and secure.

Teen Residents Encounter Christ

We share the gospel and our lives with the teens currently incarcerated at the Northern Kentucky Youth Development Center in Crittendon every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. There is a lot of brokenness surrounding these residents' lives - and we know Christ is the answer. We usually share a meal, have a time of teaching and worship, and pray for one another. We would love for you to join us in bringing the love of Christ to these residents!

Eastern Kentucky Mission

Since the flood of July, 2022, in Eastern Kentucky, Immanuel has been serving the greater Rousseau community in partnership with their local fire department. After many donations, distributions, and their unwavering determination, the community began to effectively rebuild their homes, businesses, and civic organizations. Immanuel has been integral from the outset in helping to supply food, general housewares, furniture, heaters, insulation, and even helped to replace one of the fire department’s rescue vehicles. The result has been an amazing outpouring from the community to the Glory of God. They have even witnessed revival taking place in some area churches (despite their despair).

As only God can, this devastated Kentucky community is now leading the efforts to help their brothers and sisters in Christ from the Asheville, NC community as they recover from their own recent flood damage (Hurricane Helene). The Rousseau community continues to collect resources to help rebuild the lives of their neighbors, then shuttles their surplus to NC. They know the road to recovery for people struggling with pain and los is long.

Ghana Missions

Serving the hungry for Christ.

Dr. Cam Gonwer and his family serve as missionaries in Ankaase, Ghana, in Africa. Cam extends a medical ministry at the Methodist Faith Healing Hospital and Outpatient clinic and a church-based community health program. His wife, Anne, teaches literacy to the patients they serve.

Dr. Gongwer (and wife Anne) have served for the past 25+ years. Cam has served as the Executive Director of Crosspoint Global Health in conjunction with his work with the Mission Society. Anne has been instrumental in supporting literacy programs and the Reading Town Library in Ankaase (which Immanuel helped to establish).

More recently, through partnership with TMS Global, the ministry in the Ankaase community has expanded through the building of their new dental facility (including the new Dental Nurses Training School) and an addition to the Apagya Methodist Hospital.

Thailand Mission

Reverends Mike and Sherri Morrissey are missionaries from our Global Methodist Mid-South Conference that we sponsor in their ministry efforts. Only 2% of Thailand’s current population know Jesus.

Russia Missions

Russia Missions

In partnership with Pastor Igor Volovodov, Immanuel Church helped to plant St. Apostles Peter and Paul Church in Voronezh, Russia in the early 2000’s. Pastor Igor has helped to disciple many new believers through the church’s many groups (Boy Scouts, Men’s Group, and newly added Christian Learning Academy) and missionary journeys throughout Russia, and even pilgrimages to the Holy Land. On a more recent mission, Pastor Igor baptized 18 new believers into the Christian faith.

More recently, Pastor Igor, and their church have been faithfully serving both Russian and Ukrainian refugees from the ongoing war. Many families have been displaced, homes destroyed, and food supplies vastly depleted. The church has been a safe haven, a blessing to the many in need, and a reminder that God works for the good of all who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

Christmas celebrations are still one of the spiritual high points of the calendar year as they celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Bolivia Mission

BOLIVIA MISSION (Mesa Global)

Bolivians face a variety of daily challenges: government corruption, economic poverty, alcohol and drug addictions, broken families, abuse, and neglect. Within the church, Bolivians are taught legalistic approaches to God accomplished by rigid rule-following instead of relationship. Catholic and indigenous belief systems mix with evangelical Christianity often leading to confusion and attempts to achieve personal gain through any means (gods or rituals) necessary.

Our desire is to accompany individuals to experience relationship and restoration through Christ and begin to heal from trauma and brokenness. We get to do that primarily through our work with school-aged children who are still in their most formative years!

Our primary goal is to disciple, mentor, and counsel the next generation of local leaders so they may know Jesus Christ personally and intimately. We achieve this by partnering with Talita Cumi children's home and the AVISA child sexual abuse prevention and detection program.

Dominican Republic Mission

2026 Dominican Republic Mission Trip

June 9th - June 16th

Our 2026 Dominican Republic Mission Trip Team is established, and we can't wait to head to the DR together this summer! We will be taking a team of 22 short-term missionaries to support Go Ministries in, and around, Santiago. Please join us in praying for our mission team!

Dominican Republic Mission

Immanuel families partner with GO Ministries in sharing, serving, and sending missionaries to the Dominican Republic. GO Ministries utilizes a three-pronged approach to reaching people for Jesus Christ; the legs of their ministry include: Church Planting, Sports, and Medical missions on the island.

Many of our mission teams have participated in supporting new GO Church Plants by providing programing and ministry resources for local pastors. This can include VBS’s, prayer walks, community development, worship, and small-scale construction. GO Ministries has a goal of planting 1,000 churches by the year 2030 (currently 300+).

GO Sports is the life blood of many Dominican communities as a means to reach children for Jesus Christ. GO offers several different team options for children and youth, including: Baseball, Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer. With the recent improvements to their LDC (Leader Development Complex), GO has expanded their footprint on the island’s sports ministry while deepening discipleship opportunities for families.

GO Medical has served as an amazing blessing to many urban and rural communities on the island. Immanuel was integral in the early stages of GO’s new three-story medical facility. Many medical teams now provide traveling health clinics (medical and dental), installation of freshwater filtration systems, and standard non-prescription medications (aspirin, Tylenol, ibuprofen, and basic antibiotics).

Immanuel Food Mission

Serving the hungry for Christ.

The Immanuel Food Mission serves our greater Northern Kentucky community every Wednesday (5:00 p.m. at the Boone Campus) and the second Saturday of the month (9:00-11:00 a.m. also located at our Boone Campus 1440 Boone Aire Rd. Florence, KY).

Our Wednesday Hot Meal and Lite Pantry provide nutritious food for families with the option of indoor dining during our community mealtime. This is a safe place to get a fresh, home-cooked meal and the basic pantry staples people need. Our perishable grocery supplies are rescued weekly from area partners (Aldi, Meijer, and Costco) in partnership with the Freestore Foodbank. Our second Saturday Pantry provides a variety of perishable foods (meat, bread, and fresh produce) as well as nonperishable packages including items like: canned vegetables, peanut butter, pasta, canned fruit, canned meat, and other miscellaneous foods. Both pantries offer wonderful opportunities to serve with Christ-like volunteers from all of our Immanuel campuses as well members of our community. From “Box -Building” to “Lent us a Hand” food drive collections, we welcome helpers of all ages (including our KDO Preschoolers and Families).
